Our family of volunteers are encouraged to share with each other and those seeking help in a compassionate and tender hearted manner with respect for each individual who enters our facility.
We provide a variety of interesting service opportunities for groups, individuals, students. Some of these include:
- sorting food
- stocking shelves
- assisting clients
- donation tracking
- fund raising
- special events
- office support
- holiday programs
- back to school programs
- board member leadership
- special committees

Frequently Asked Questions
We have volunteer opportunities for any age. However, volunteers under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
All minors under the age of 13 must have written parental consent to work at the pantry alone.
This consent is signed by the parent or guardian on the back of the application.
Dress is casual. If working with clients shopping for food, warehouse, food drives or food deliveries, please dress for warehouse work with closed toe shoes.
If your group is larger than 10 persons we suggest that you reserve several days to accommodate all of your employees as we typically can't provide work for more than 10 persons at one time.Â
Groups typically will do shopping or warehouse/facility related work.Â
The group coordinator should call the pantry to reserve a date and time, and have their staff complete the online civil rights training and complete the Civil Rights Training signoff here.

Pantry hours are Mondays (Noon- 7pm), Thursdays (10am - 2pm) and Saturdays (11am - 2pm) and applications can be picked up and or completed during these times.Â
You can also download our application here, complete it at home and bring it in! Please bring your completed applications to the training.

Step 4: Start volunteering!
There are several categories of volunteer opportunities.
Board membership: Responsible for the overall direction and governance of the agency. Board members work to assure the long term viability of the organization. Board membership positions are limited in availability so please submit a resume and your interest to info@hhfp.org and someone will get back to you.
Shopper: Our most common and numerous type of volunteer opportunity where you escort our wonderful clients through the pantry as they shop! Â Suitable for high school aged minors, adults, and groups!
Warehouse staff volunteer: Stocking shelves, unloading food from delivery trucks and cars. These positions are less numerous but nevertheless are great opportunities for young children or groups to help out when the volume of work exceeds our normal capacities. Needs of the warehouse vary, so call first to find out if this is something we can accommodate! (Suitable for high school aged minors, adults, and groups and minor children with a parent or guardian.)
Administrative staff volunteer: Do you like to serve as a receptionist? Â Interested in data entry and book keeping? Then these opportunities might be right for you. These roles are for adults only
Event based volunteer: These are typically annual activities that the pantry sponsors where we could use a helping hand.  Events include but are not limited to our annual Golf Outing, Santa Shop, Back Pack Program, etc. call the pantry, check out a call for need on our website and or Facebook page or email us at info@hhfp.org if this might interest you!

The type of volunteer opportunity you work in would determine when you could volunteer.
Because our shopper is our most ample volunteer opportunity most people volunteer during some segment of our normal business hours. (Mon: Noon - 7pm, Thurs: 10am - 2pm, Sat: 10am - 2pm)
Volunteers choose how frequently and how many hours they like to work within the prescribed business hours of the pantry under most circumstances.
Students typically volunteer outside of school hours. (Monday afternoons or Saturdays)
Yes, however please keep in mind that the organization utilizes the Good Moral Character guidelines as established by the MDHH to assess good moral character. Generally such guidelines prohibit offenses of a violent or sexual nature, offenses involving guns, and offenses involving children. Â
Students and those serving Court Ordered Community Service can get verification of their community services hours from the Executive Director upon request.
